chemical energy

definition:

chemical energy is when the something has a change of state and a reaction to chemicals.

in this picture there are many kinds of energys being used but the battery is the chemical enegy.

an example of chemical energy is when you are baking a cake and the change is from the batter to the cake.

way to teach chemical energy: In class we could be in partners and we could have light bulbs and use a wire and battery to try and make the light bulb light up.

Chemical enrgy is used when somthing burns.

thermal energy

definition:

thermal energy is when something has a reaction to heat.

an example of thermal energy is when you light a fire the wood burns and creates a flame.

A way we could teach this in class is to rub something back and forth really fast and we would we would be able to feel the heat.

mechanical energy

definition
"Energy associated with the motion or postition of an object."
mechanical energy can be kinetic and potential energy.
to teach mechanical energy in class we could watch a roller coaster ride and see how it moves.

Nuclear energy

definition:
"energy released during a nuclear reaction as a result of fission or fusion.
nuclear energy is stored in the nucleus of an atom and in the event of fission or fusion the energy changes from potential to kinetic."

one bad thing about nuclear energy is because there is probly no safe way to show nuclear energy besides maybe drawing atoms or other molecules.

Acoustic Energy

"Acoustic energy is disturbance of energy that comes through matter as sound waves"

An example of acoustic energy would be ultra-sound. Ultra-sound is sound waves goin inot your body to make a picture.

An acoustic guitar is another form of acoustic energy.

Acoustic guitars send sound waves out as acoustic energy.

Electromagnetic energy

Electromagnetic energy is exhibiting wave like behavior as it travels through space.

A magnet could help you learn how to exhibit electromagnetic energy.

Electromagnetic energy is used with magnets.

Electrical Energy

"Electrical Energy is the presence or flow of an electrical charge."

An example of this would be to attch two wires to a battery and lightbulb to make an electric circuit.

Electrical energy is used to light things.
